Prema Katha Chitram
Posted On 23 Dec 2013 - 06:40 AM

Maruthi is one director who created a new ray of hope for aspiring filmmakers in Tollywood. He proved his worth by making Ee Rojullo a huge hit with reasonable budget and new acting talents.  The subjects chosen by him essentially revolved around Youth’s attitude over relationships, College life and Love stories. But he changed his style by producing “Prema Katha Chitram” which is a blend of multiple genres. Going by the title of the film, everybody would obviously feel it is a feel good love story featuring new faces but the estimate went terribly wrong when the film released! Nobody could imagine the tremendous entertainment which was in store apart from just a love story in the film!

Why is it so?

Prema Katha Chitram blended dissimilar genres like Love, Horror, Comedy and Social Responsibility- without losing focus on the entertainment factor.  Till then, Indian Cinema witnessed the genres individually but the brilliance lies when each of the above genres mix up with the other!  Decent performances by the lead actors Sudheer Babu and Nanditha Rajas keep the film going. However, it is the comedian Saptagiri who got a lifetime role in the film. His tremendous comedy timing and his addressing of the ghost as “Akka!” generated nonstop laughter in the theatres. The film also featured the convincing remix of old classic “Vennelaina Cheekataina” .

Though Prema Katha Chitram may not be an eternal masterpiece, it is definitely one of the mediocre films of this year with the experimental blending of dissimilar genres of Cinema. Which is why, we at iQlikMovies desk feel it is worth to be remembered.
