Market Expansion Begins for Tollywood

Tollywood is one of the most happening film industries in India after the massive Bollywood which is based in Mumbai. Nevertheless, Tollywood always gave a tough competition to Hindi films with its challenging subjects, fantastic talent and brilliant technicians. However, it took till the year 2015 for Telugu film industry to show a fitting example for Indian Films by making a magnum opus Baahubali which was set on a grand canvas without compromising on any aspect.

Baahubali had the best VFX work, breathtaking costumes, top notch performances which was on par with any Hollywood flick! As a result, the film has opened new doors for market in Indian Cinema. Popular Bollywood director/producer Karan Johar distributed the film in Hindi and he got thumping returns. Many big film personalities started eyeing Tollywood and for the first time ever- the potential of Telugu films was shown with great vigor in this year!

Baahubali made an all time track record overseas by collecting 1.4 million dollars for just the premiers in USA. The first weekend share itself touched a whopping amount of 120 crore. It became the first film to cross 100 days by collecting $ 7000 in America alone! These figures explain the enormity of this brilliant visual marvel.

This trend set by Baahubali was continued with Srimanthudu which collected a massive figure of 144 crores worldwide. Nani’s Bhale Bhale Magadivoy collected a fantastic 44 crore in just 20 days of its successful run. Anushka’s historic epic Rudramadevi also collected 90 crore which is a remarkable example of growing market for Telugu films.

Because of great performance of these films, the anticipated releases like Akhil were sold for a fancy price because of the growing trust in Tollywood’s potential!

With more big releases lined up for 2016, things look quite bright for Tollywood in the coming year!
