Dasara Bullodu

Posted On 22 Jan 2014 - 09:23 AM
Dasara Bullodu featured the prominent producer V.B.Rajendra Prasad turning into director and making new records in the Box office. When his home production director Madhusudan Rao was not available, Rajendra Prasad asked ANR himself to direct the film. ANR, who was not interested to come into direction suggested the producer himself should direct it for the excellent story telling skills he had. This film shows ANR at the age of 40 as an active young man who also had to dance in it! It is another hit from ANR- Vanisri combination.

Story Details:
Gopi (ANR) and Radha (Vanisri) are based from a rural backdrop and are in love. But Nirmala (Chandrakala) also falls for Gopi. Nirmala’s father plans to get his daughter married to Gopi for the selfish motive to grab the latter’s property but as fate could have it, Nirmala is diagnosed with cancer and very soon understands that Gopi and Radha are in love. The rest of the story deals about what Nirmala’s father plans and the sacrifice of Nirmala to unite this couple.

Performances:
ANR is brilliant as the rustic village guy with lot of spirit and enthusiasm. Even at the age of 40s, during this film’s release- he actively performed and even danced for some songs. He is fantastic in emotional scenes.Vanisri is believable as the village belle and her chemistry with ANR speaks wonders. She carried the rural style costumes so perfectly and her histrionics speak mountains about her acting skills.  Chandrakala is excellent in a pivotal role and it demands emotional take on the character and she does it well.

Technical Aspects:
Direction by V.B.Rajendra Prasad is very neat and the film doesn’t reflect that he was a debutant then. Music by K.V.Mahadevan clicks well for the rural backdrop and songs like Pacchagaddi Koseti, Ettaga Unnadhi, Nalla Vade, Chethilo Cheyyesi Chepppu became all time hits.  Dialogues and Lyrics by Athreya elevate the film to new level.
