Twitter forum exploded with the news of Rajnikanth’s latest film. It seems that the invincible icon of Tamil world, Rajni Sir did not want to take on the stars. With his dream project hitting theatres soon, he took to numerology to tweak the movie’s name at the last minute. It came as a surprise that even Rajni follows Astrology.
Initially named as Kochadaiyaan, director Soundarya tweeted that the name has been changed to Kochadaiiyaan adding an extra ‘I’ to the spelling. Famous numerologist-astrologer, Sanjay S Jumaani is speculated to be the one who advised Rajni to make the change.
Many Bollywood icons consult with Jumani before releasing their movies, often resulting in a change of name of the cast, movie and even release dates. Ajay Devgann, Amishaa Patel, Neil Nitinn Mukesh are notable followers.
The Movie: An Overview
Right from its inception in 2011, Kochadaiiyaan was engulfed in gossips. It is Soundarya’s directorial debut with her father. Soundarya managed a casting coup of sorts by bringing in Deepika Padukone, Aadhi and Jackie Shroff in her movie.
Soon after the announcement, news of Rajni’s health and fake news of his death flooded the social media adding to confusion.
Even choosing the female lead took a lot of effort. Anushka Shetty, Asin, Katrina Kaif, Vidya Balan were approached for the role opposite Rajni. But things did not work out with any of them. Finally, Deepika Padukone stepped in and things have moved rather speedily and positively since then.
In all probability, Rajni will be enacting a triple role. It boasts of soundtracks by AR Rahman.
Kochadaiiyaan will mark the debut of Rajni-the Singer with the theme song. The trailer was released globally at the Cannes Film Festival in May this year. The 2nd trailer was released in September that garnered over a million views in a single day.
Kochadaiiyaan is considered to be a digital 3D masterpiece in league with Life of Pie and Avatar.
Kochadaiiyaan will be released in Tamil, Telugu, English, Spanish and Japanese on Rajni’s birthday, 12th December 2013.
Unlike in his movies, where Rajni is portrayed as a demi-god, he is very spiritual. He often goes to the Himalayas for spiritual quests.
With a Living star already in the movie, it seems all the more auspicious that Kochadaiiyaan has been astrologically blessed with success.
