Why are producers and fans banking on average stars as mega stars in Tollywood

Are the mega stars really worthy of their tag

Tollywood movies are right now at a dearth of good actors. The directors and the viewers are all happy with average movie stars who have failed to deliver a good movie, or even a box-office hit in a long time. Telegu actors like PawanKalyan, Mahesh Babu, AlluArjun, Ram Charan, NTR Jr., Nagarjuna to name a few, are the much loved top stars. They have assumed titles like Power Star, Prince, Stylish Star, Mega Power Star, Young Tiger and King for themselves. But, these titles have not been beneficial in bringing out too many hits. The actors remain in their dry spell for a long time. Yet, these stars are like immortal gods to the people who love them immensely. Why are producers and fans banking on average stars as mega stars in Tollywood

Despite their regular flops, these Telegu actors are the top contenders for the No.1 spot in the Telegu Film Industry. They each have a devoted fan base, fans who remain loyal irrespective of whether or not they manage to give out a hit. In fact, their fan base is an ever expanding clan. The stars are so lucky that even when they churn out flops one after the other, they are never abandoned by their fans who keep supporting them. While female fans are ready to die for a sight of these actors, male stars are happy copying their styles and dialogues. The support of the fans never dies.  The producers, too, never abandon these stars. Despite their flops, they still manage to bag more and more films.

Reasons behind support of producers

An important reason behind the support of the producers could be their lineage. Most of the superstars of Tollywood are members of huge film families or kins of big names. NTR is the sone of actor-turned-politician, Harikrishna, while Ram Charan as well as Kalyan belongs to the family of Chiranjeevi, Union Minister, and formerly, an actor. Naturally, the producers are always ready to fall back on them, even if it means delivering another flop. Fans of the Telegu Film Industry are also very community based.

Even though it is quite clear that the industry could do with some actors with better skills, the so-called superstars of the industry are the ones who get the movies, despite their average skills. The actors have a large number of movies in their pipeline, a large fan-base and a host of producers who are willing to give them a chance to work in movies, without the risk of losing work or taking the blame after a flop.
