Rise of Indie Cinema

With the rise of digitalization, indie films are coming out in good numbers, which do promise us a wide range of experimental and commercial films which will bring a fresh air to film lovers. A little peek on the statistics will make a better picture of how the new technology is making its fair run of film industry. Celluloid is now on change with a new wave which brings great hope and demand from the Indian cinema.

A total of 188 films were made in celluloid this year compared to 744 of last year, with 1778 digital films made this year compared to 980 of last year. Digital film has produced 798 films more to that of last year and slow shifting of change again from celluloid to digital film making is making it easy for producing film now. While producing 334 compared to 187 digital films this year, digitalization in cinema is something that you can neglect.

Big budget vs Indie films

Telugu films which were known for big budget, high commercial entertainment, which is always tough for an upcoming fresh face filmmaker to make his own movie now have a wide option to make his own dream projects with rise of digital film making. With the big budget films with all those leading top heroes assuring no success as we have seen through time, digital technology has brought more brilliant minds to film making. New films bringing and experimenting with new ideas and brave genres we are now going through the real new generation or new wave of Indian Cinema. Most films have received rave reviews both from critics and audience like Ship of Thesus, B.A PASS and Tasher Desh making up for a few examples. With India being the largest producer of films per year in the world it’s great news for Tollywood that they have topped the Indian Cinema and it is of great importance as we can see a lot of promising directors and genres coming into Tollywood cinema.

We can see that digital film technology has revolutionized Indian Cinema and the quality of good films that are being made has significantly increased compared to the previous years.
