Hudhud affects Oka Laila Kosam BO collections

2014 has seen a number of romantic flicks from Tollywood, Oka Laila Kosam falls into the same category, written and directed by the new phase Vijay Kumar Konda with Naga Chaitanya and Pooja Hedge as lead. The film is produced by Nagarjuna in the name of Annapurna Studios with Anoop composing the music. The cinematography is handled by Andrew and Praveen Pudi, the duo also worked on editing for the film. The film had a great initial response bagging Rs 7.8 crores within the first 3 days but their initial run was stalled by Hudhud in Andhra Pradesh.

The film made a great initial run making Rs 7.8 Crore within the opening weekend, with the cyclone hitting Visakhapatnam and neighboring places the film lost a huge amount of collection from these areas which are key areas for good audience. Nearly 200 theatres remains shut in the cyclone affected areas and this has become a great loss for the film crew.

Films like Current Theega and Ishq wala love were postponed due to Hudhud cyclone and most people believe that the same should have done for Oka Lalila Kosam.

Critical reception

The film when released received good reviews with most critics pleased with the leads performance and its gripping screenplay. IB times review saw them saying the movie is decent and enjoyable. The Hindu rated it as a feel good movie and the review said” Though the film offers nothing great, the performance and mixture of little laughs and entertainment makes it a decent one time watch”. Times of India review pointed out that the film doesn’t make a great impression on you but it just has enough to provide enough for a feel good romantic flick. The Deccan Chronicle also wrote the same about the film being a good for one time watch or a better feel good movie that has come out recently. One India rated the movie good and stated that appreciation should be given for the screenplay and for making normal casual story magical o the screen. The movie has all the elements for being a commercial entertainer and was given a rating of 3 out of 5 rating.

Release

The opening saw upto 65-75 % occupancy in multiplexes. The film made a collection of 50 Million on its first day at global box-office, gradually the films response improved due to the strong word of mouth and the film earned a collection of 65 million in Andhra Pradesh area. The first weekend global collection crossed 84 Million thus collection making 35 % of its total production cost. The film made a total world collection of 100 Million in the first week and is declared as a hit.

Pre Production

The initial photography started on December 2013, and ended by December 26. The shooting took place at Hyderabad and by early 2014 some of the important scenes were shot. The second schedule ended by January 11th and after taking a little gap, shooting started again in February.
