Those were the early days of ANR’s acting career during when he used to sing his own songs. It was at this moment Mugguru Marateelu released and successfully ran all over.  T.G.Kamaladevi was the female lead opposite ANR in this film which released on 1st June 1946. The two actors performed and even sang a duet song Chal Chalo Vayyaree Shikar. Apart from this duet song, ANR sang a group prayer song along with Kannamba and T.G.Kamaladevi.

This recording commenced in Shobhanachala theatre and went on throughout the day. A break was given in between and everyone was hungry. Snacks and coffee arrived but it was served only to the senior artist Kannamba and the younger artists ANR and T.G.Kamaladevi were ignored.  In fact, nobody even bothered to give a glass of water to these budding artists. ANR, who was quite young then became furious with this treatment.  But he couldn’t ask out aloud for snacks because he was a man of high self respect.

A dejected ANR silently left the studio.  During the days when ANR arrived in Madras as an actor, he got a Rally (A famous brand those days) bicycle for himself. ANR used to ride his adorable bicycle on the streets of Madras.  On this particular day, ANR left the studio to get special cakes for himself and his co-star and singer T.G.Kamaladevi.

Looking at this, an aghast production people thought that this young man had lot of self respect!
