Srisaila Sri Rajamouli, popularly SS Rajamouli is today Sure shot Success Rajamouli. With just 9 films under his belt, he is one of the most powerful and salable brand in Telugu who commands respect and following across the nation.

  • Personal Life

    Rajamouli is born in to a family with rich filmy background. His father Vijayendra Prasad is a popular writer from the 80s. Rajamouli’s cousin MM Keeravani is one of the most revered music directors in Tollywood history and his other cousin, Kalyani Malik is a budding music director.

    Rajamouli married Rama who was a Divorcee. She is the sister of Keeravani's wife and has a son from her estranged first husband. She usually takes care of the styling of the actors in SSR’s movies and also handles production activities.

  • Career

    He first entered into the direction field with two TV serials under the guidance of K.Raghavendra Rao. His first flick “Student no.1” which introducing Jr. NTR as the lead was a huge hit. This movie caught the pulse of the youth and introduced Rajamouli with a big bang.

    With high expectations in the Tollywood, Rajamouli released his next movie “Simhadri” after a long hiatus. This movie turned to be a blockbuster that changed the trend in Tollywood. The ace director gave his next movie “Sye”, a sports genre movie. With amazing characterization of the hero and villain, he elevated the status of the movie.

    With adrenalin filled emotions and heart touching family drama, he gave an action entertainer “Chatrapati” starring Prabhas and Shriya. Molding an amazing line between the son and mother, Rajamouli received another hit. “Vikramarkudu”, one of the best movies of Tollywood, lifted the director to heights. Embedding a unique mannerism to the Hero “Jinta ta ta”, Rajamouli earned great accolades. The theme “Jinta ta ta”went on to become a craze in Bollywood audience when the movie was remade as ‘Rowdy Rathore’ starring Akshay Kumar in the lead. 

    Adding to his ‘hit’ list, Rajamouli released “Yamadonga” with Jr.NTR. Exploiting the energy of NTR, capturing the beauty of Priyamani and Mamta Mohan Das and tapping the mannerism of Mohan Babu, he indeed presented a  unique drama on the screen.

    Breaking all the recordings, Rajamouli released the most anticipated movie “Magadheera” starring Ram Charan and Kajal. Weaving a fairy tale into a movie Rajamouli depicted every detail with great precision. His next movie, which is a comedy thriller titled “Maryada Ramanna” stood as a blockbuster in the year 2010.

    Then came his fictional thriller, “Eega” with visual effects taking the main seat received not just positive response from audience but also critics as well. The movie is dubbed in Tamil and Hindi. Both versions went on to become hit and has put Rajamouli  on the pedestal of Bollywood.

    • Rajamouli had to return a part of his remuneration after his producer had to sell Sye movie to cover the deficit.
    • All the projects of Rajamouli will have MM Keeravani as the music director and Rama Rajamouli as stylist.
    • Rajamouli draws remuneration on par or more than the star heroes in the industry today.
    • Rajamouli is a down to earth person. He always gives due credit to his guru, Raghavender Rao in his success. KRR recently announced that he will be working as Assistant director to Rajamouli for Baahubali movie.
    • Rajamouli choreographed action sequences in his father’s maiden direction venture, Rajanna - which were highlights for the movie.
