Overview

After starting his career with a small film, Sampath Nandi got to direct Mega Power Star Ram Charan in his second and delivered a blockbuster. His career took a sudden twist then after being chosen for Pawan Kalyan’s film and later being left out from the project.

  • Personal Life

    Sampath Nandi was born and brought up in Hanmakonda, Telangana. He studied there till 10th class and went to Narayana College in Nellore to do his plus 2. After that he finished B Pharmacy in VLCP, Raichur and was a topper there. He discontinued his studies in his Post graduation and entered films.

  • Career

    Sampath Nandi is an ardent Chiranjeevi fan. He is an avid reader and was impressed with Posani Krishna Murali’s writing skills. He somehow caught hold of Posani’s phone number and is in touch with him. He joined Posani once Trivikram left him and worked for 3 years with him. Later he joined the team of director N.Shankar. He is the ghost writer for Srihari’s Bhadrachalam and also wrote dialogues for N.Shankar’s next, Ayudham.  He got his first title card for the film. Later on, he worked for Priyadarshini Ram’s Manodu.

    He was introduced to Johnny Lal (bother of famous cinematographer Kabirlal) and directed several ad films and model portfolios in Mumbai. It is the only experience he had in direction before foraying in to film direction.  During that time, he also worked as a ghost dialogue writer for over 30 Telugu films.

    He penned a script and started approaching many producers but no one risked him to do a high budget film. In order to prove himself he directed a small budget film with Varun Sandesh and Nisha Agarwal – Emaindhi Eevela. The film became a super hit.

    He surprised everyone with his second film. He got to direct Ram Charan in Racha after Orange. The movie went on to cross more than 40 Crores share and brought Charan back to track after Orange debacle. The next to come is a big surprise as well as big jolt to Sampath Nandi’s career. He got a chance to direct Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh-2. But some he was let out of the project after working for more than an year. 

  • Trivia

    • Sampath Nandi came under severe criticism for a dialogue on ‘Ameerpet Hostels’ in his first movie, Emaindhi Eevela. He had to publicly apologize for it.
    • There were several rumours of Pawan Kalyan changing Gabbar Singh sequel director and the project itself being shelved. But they are baseless at least till now.
