Jayammu Nischayammura story at a glance

Jayammu Nischayammu Raa is a comedy classic starring the fantastic comedy duo Rajendra Prasad and Chandramohan in the lead roles. It is one unique comedy films which feature many of the comedians of the 80s and thereby giving a laugh riot to the viewer. The film is sure unique for the fact that, despite the simple love story, the film continues to entertain and enthrall the viewer till the last frame.

Rambabu (Rajendra Prasad) and Suri Babu( Chandramohan) are best friends who run an organization which arranges for love marriages for couples. They live in a rented room for which Gopalam (Brahmanandam) is the owner. While he is an obsessive musician who troubles people with his crazy music, his wife (Srilakshmi) has a peculiar habit of remembering her lost son Chitti and hugs anybody who reminds her of the same! This particular comedy sequence remains to be an all time classic in the history of Telugu Comedy films. Rambabu falls for a girl named Shanthi (Sumalatha) who rejects him out and out because she doesn’t believe in the concept of love marriage. She directly tells him that she will marry only the guy whom her parents look for her which leads to dejection of Rambabu. Meanwhile, Rambabu’s father (Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam), a mathematics teacher and a short tempered individual arranges for a match and demands that his son should marry that girl only. Rambabu becomes furious and requests his father to keep the match for hold as he wants to try convincing the girl he loves.

Shanthi’s parents are the most contrasting couple one can ever think of. While her father (Sutthi Velu) is a military man and an atheist, her mother is highly religious lady. The real fun begins when Suri babu challenges Shanthi that he will marry her with her parents consent and the rest of the story is about how he achieves it.

Coming to Suribabu’s life, he loves a girl named Seetha (Avanthi) who has a troubled family. She always gets a new problem in stock for our Suribabu and asks him to get it solved so that they can marry. The sentiment angle of a typical middle class household is wonderfully explored here. Suribabu’s dad (Kota Srinivasa Rao) is a Telangana native and he is a crazy movie buff. He loves narrating the story in Telangana slang to everybody he meets, which is another treat to watch!

  • Trade

Rajendra Prasad and Chandramohan excel in their respective lead roles. Their combination after Rendu Rendlu Aaru with Jandhyala clicked wonderfully again. Sumalatha is wonderful as the female lead and gives the film a brilliant flavor. Kota Srinivasa Rao excels as the film obsessed guy from Telangana origin. Brahmanandam is amazing as the obsessive musician and a worrisome husband to his wife Srilakshmi. This on screen couple ruled Telugu Cinema for many years to come.  Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam is terrific as the angry father of the hero.

Sutthi Velu is fantastic as the military man and an atheist, generating laughs just with his dialogue delivery!
