Vamsi story at a glance

Vamsi (Mahesh) is the fashion designer who gets an opportunity to participate in the Fashion Designer's contest held in Australia. Sneha (Mayuri Kango), a colleague of Mahesh will be parading Vamsi’s creations there. Vamsi goes to Austraila to study the native culture in order to design the best outfit. In his tour, he meets Shilpa (Namrata Sirodkar), daughter of an Industrialist Aakineedu Prasad (Nazar), who is studying in Australia and they both fall in love. Sneha gets injured and could not participate in the contest. Shilpa enters the contest with Vamsi designs, winning the first prize for Vamsi. Once they come back to India, things get changed rapidly. Rest of the story is how they unite with each other.

  • Trade

The movie released with enough hype about it. Thanks to the direction of B.Gopal who delivered a blockbuster like Samara Simha Reddy by then. But the movie was completely different from B.Gopal’s earlier films and finally ended up as a flop at the box office.
  • Highlights

    • This is the first combination of Mahesh Babu and B.Gopal.
    • Mahesh Babu and Namratha Shirodkar paired up in this movie. They later on became a real life couple too.
    • Super Star Krishna played a special role in the movie.
  • Sidelights

    • During the movie, the on-screen couple Mahesh and Namrata started seeing each other in real life that ended up in their marriage five years later.
    • The movie is heavily inspired from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Dil Tho Pagal Hain.
    • The song “ABC datindo…” from the movie appears to be a blind copy of DDLJ song in which Sharukh Khan was forced to play piano and humiliate Kajol. For a change, Mahesh uses Violin in place of Piano.
