Murari story at a glance

Way back in 1800's a Jamindar insults Godess Durga by trying to steal her idol in a temple in a state of inebriation. An enraged Devi kills him and put a curse on his heirs that she is going to take one family member each every 48 years. And in the present, Murari (Mahesh Babu) is the Grandson of Sabari (Sukumari), whose husband died 48 years back because of the curse. She named her grandson with her hubby name Murari. Hence he is regarded with utmost respect by all family members.

And on the other side, there is Vasundhara (Sonali Bendre) in the household of Mahesh's brother's wife, Gopamma (Lakshmi). But both the families divide in Gopamma's marriage upon a petty issue. Gopamma is allowed to go her parent's house without any escort from her husband. In the current year Murari manages to accompany Gopamma to her parent's house. Vasundhara and Murari fall in love. Rest of the story is about the curse on the family and how the couple unites.
