Andhrawala story at a glance
Shankar Pehlwan – Andhrawala (NTR) is a leader who represents Telugu labour in Mumbai. He takes on Bade miya, a mafia don and later becomes a don himself. Bade Miya kills Shankar and his wife (Sanghavi). One of the followers leaves the kid Munna (NTR) beside a beggar and escapes. Munna grows in to a man and lives in a slum in Hyderabad. In a land issue of their slum, Munna comes to know about his past and goes to Mumbai for revenge. Rest of the story is how he succeeds in his personal vendetta.

The movie had witnessed never before hype then. Especially as the movie came after NTR delivered a sensational hit like Simhadri. The movie released on New Year eve in 2004 and was nothing sort of a nightmare to the fans and buyers. -
Highlights
- This is the first combination of NTR and Puri Jagannath. There were several reports of one more movie in their combo but that did not happen.
- Rakshita who earlier made her debut in Puri’s Idiot, paired up with NTR in this movie.

The Audio function of Andhrawala was held at Sr. NTR's home town Nimmakur. The capacity of the venue grounds was a mere 25000 and the crowds that turned up in lakhs were strangled on the roads from Pamarru to Nimmakur. Even a few celebrities who graced this occasion appeared to have got intimidated by the crowds. The celebrities who showed up included D Suresh Babu, Paruchuri brothers, Murali Mohan, YVS Chowdary, VV Vinayak and Raja Mouli. NTR unveiled the statues of his grandparents Sr. NTR and Smt. Basava Tarakam and launched the audio. For the first time in the history of Telugu film journalism, the press returned back from a film event without covering it as they could not reach out the stage in the crowds. Producers have arranged a special train for fans to attend the function. It was first of its kind audio function in Tollywood.

The film has been dubbed in Tamil as Velaa and in hindi as Barood:Man On Mission.

Puri jagan's assistant Meher Ramesh remade this film in Kannada as Veera Kannadiga with Puneeth Rajkumar. Meher later directed NTR in movies like Kantri and Shakthi.
