Bommarillu story at a glance

Siddu (Siddharth) has everything in life in excess amounts. His father (Prakash Raj) decides on what is good for Siddu. And so he selects a girl of his choice to Siddharth. That is when Siddu meet the girl Hasini (Genelia) and falls in love with her. His father objects this even Siddu too objects his father decision.  Siddu’ father tells him to bring Hasini to home for a week to get to know about her.  The rest of the story is how Siddu convinces hi dad and unites with Hasini.

    The film is huge hit. The movie was made with a budget of 6 crores and collected 25 crores at box office.
  • Highlights

    • This is second combination of Siddharth and Genelia after Boys.
    • Bhaskar made his debut as director with this film. He narrated the story first to Jr. NTR but it did not materialize somehow.
    • The film won 7 Nandi Awards and 3 FILMFARE awards.
    • In April 2007, a case of copyright infringement was filed on the film's producer and director that prompted a court to stall the screening of the film. The allegation pointed out that the film was made based on a compilation of short stories that was released in 1997.
    • The total run time of the film was 3 hours and 15 minutes later, 25 mins were trimmed.
    • Siddharth crooned a song in this film. Appudo Ippudo, it topped all the chart busters.
    • This is Devi Sri Prasad straight 3rd film under Dil Raju production.
    • The shooting of the film took lot of time. Approx 8 months.
  • Sidelights

    • The film was remade in Tamil as Santosh Subramaniam (2008), in Bengali as Bhalobasa Bhalobasa (2008), in Oriya as Dream Girl (2009) and will be remade in Hindi as It's My Life (2013).
    • Jayasudha planned to remake this film in Hindi with Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek but it did not materialize.
    • The palatial house where the entire family stayed in the film is part of Ramanaidu Studios at Nanakramguda, Hyderabad.
