Oh my Friend story at a glance

Chandu (Siddharth) and Siri (Shruti Hassan) are childhood friend and neighbors. Both are extremely close friends. Siri has a boyfriend Uday (Navdeep) and Chandu falls in love with Ritu Sharma (Hansika Motwani). Chandu is passionate about music and wants to become a lead singer and guitarist. So he decides to attend Airtel music competition in Kochi. However, in Kochi displaying deep friendship between Chandu and Siri irritates both Ritu and Uday. The rest of the story is all about the conflicts between love and friendship of Chandu and Siri.

    Though the movie got reviews, it failed to impress the audience. The movie was released with 250 prints but ended as a flop.

  • Highlights

    • This is Siddharth’s second film with Shruti Hassan.
    • Initially Samantha was considered as the female lead but Amritha Rao was roped in to make the film at-a-time in Hindi also. But idea was dropped and Siddharth opted for Shruti as the female lead.
    • Mickey J Meyer was supposed to provide music for this film but director Venu Sriram heard songs of Malayalam music director Rahul Raj’s songs in Youtube and roped him. This is Rahul Raj’s debut film in Tollywood.
    • Oh My Friend is the first Telugu movie to have online piracy protection called ORNB's MovieGuard.
  • Sidelights

    • The audio went on to mark record sales of 3 lakh CDs within 9 days of its release.
    • The film was dubbed in Tamil and was released on May 18, 2012, with title Sridhar.
    • Producer Dil Raju insisted director Venu to complete the film’s shooting in 80-90 days. But he wrapped up the entire shooting of the film in 84 days.
    • The audio launch event was held in Sri Chaitanya junior college in Hyderabad as a song in this film starts with Sri Chaitanya lyrics.
