Nippu story at a glance

Surya (Ravi Teja) and Sriram (Srikanth) are good friends. Surya falls in love with Sriram’s sister Meghana. Meanwhile Siram gets job in Saudi Arabia. Sriram and his girl friend Vaishnavi (Bhavana) decide to get married. But in an accident Vaishnavi dies and the blame goes on Sriram and will sentenced to prison. Surya flies to Saudi to surprise his friend and gets shocked to know that Sriram is behind bars. Saudi government offers plea for Sriram of only he is able to get a letter from Vaishnavi’s parent.
Surya returns to India for the letter but comes to know that Vaishnavi’s father Raja Goud (Pradeep Rawat) is a baddie. The rest of the story is how Surya manages to get the letter and gets rid of Sriram’s imprisonment.

    • This is Ravi Teja’s first combination with Gunasekhar.
    • Deeksha Seth paired with Ravi Teja for the second time after Mirapakaya.
    • First Ileana was considered for the female lead but Deeksha grabbed the opportunity in the last minute.
    • The movie is supposed to release for Sankranthi 2012 but the shooting got delayed.
    • Director Harish Shankar did a small cameo role in this film.
    • The film was initially titled ‘Katti’ but after facing problems from Nandamuri family Gunasekar gave up the title and changed it as "Nippu".
  • Sidelights

    • During the shooting of the film in Hayathnagar in the city of Hyderabad, Telangana activists disrupted the shooting. Later the shooting was called off and location got shifted to vizag.
    • Generally Gunasekhar’s movies have huge sets and visual effects have lot of scope, but for the first time, all these elements were missing in this film as YVS made the film with compact budget.
