The story is set in the backdrop of 1986 floods. The movie opens with Malli (Aadi Pinnisetty) and Chitra (Lakshmi Manchu) in wedding attire and about to get married. Just then, floods hit the village and create a havoc scattering everyone. Malli and Chitra get stranded on a heap of grass and wait for someone to rescue their lives. Slowly they start to break out about their past lives to each other and then come Suri (Sandeep Kishan) and Sarala (Tapsee) in to the picture. What is that about and how they get rescued forms the rest of the story.

Lakshmi Manchu stole the show completely among the four lead roles. She is simply superb and lived up to the name of her father. Despite the problems with her accent, she managed the Godavari slang very well. . Tapsee is super beautiful in the attire of a rich arrogant village girl. This will be an entirely new version of Tapsee Aadi Pinnisetty is very natural as a fisherman. His styling worked out big deal in portraying him as a fisherman. Sandeep Kishan is okay in the little role he is offered. Remaining people are good to their abilities.

There is absolutely no innovation or creativeness in the subject. The director had just put the old wine in a new bottle selecting a different subject. Debutant Kumar Nagendra had stumbled up on the treatment of the story. There are many unexplained loose ends of the movie which disrupt the audience from enjoying the movie. The screenplay goes wayward and the movie gets pathetically slow in the second half.

All the songs composed by Ilayaraja are situational and the rerecording engrosses the audience in to the mood of the story. It is no exaggeration in saying his work is the soul of the movie. Kudos to the grand old man!

Editing by Nagi Reddy could have been a lot better. Cinematography by Palani Kumar is awesome and art work by Murali Kondeti is quite natural.

The director had taken good care of the technicalities involved in the movie but he faltered in narrating the story perfectly. The entertainment part is totally missed which finally results in the snail paced movie. Finally, Gundello Godari is a decent watch provided you can manage the sluggish narration. The box office prospects should be decent provided the Mahasivaratri weekend is round the corner.
