Happy Days story at a glance

The movie juggles around eight engineering students, their aspirations, their four year college life, bonding, and tiffs with seniors etc. ‘Happy Days’ takes the audience into the lives of these characters through their formative period of personal and college life.

Chandu (Varun Sandesh) gets bewitched by his classmate Madhu (Tamannah). Tyson (Rahul), a kind- hearted science whiz falls in love with his senior, Sravanthi (Sonia). Rajesh is smitten by his English Professor, played by Kamalinee Mukherjee. How the respective characters reveal their love and its consequences, the fine layer of friendship that entangles this gang forms the story. The movie travels with the characters until getting the campus placements and ends with final farewell. ‘Happy Days’ makes the viewer to take a nostalgic ride into their own college days.

    Sekhar Kammula made the movie entirely with new comers. Initially when the movie was released, it got mixed response. Later youth, mostly engineering students flooded the theatres. This movie was one of the biggest hits and top grossers of 2007.
  • Highlights

    • The main female lead donned by Tamannah got a much needed break with this film as her earlier movie ‘Sri’ opposite Manchu Manoj failed at box office
    • Nikhil Siddharth was known as child artist and also for playing small roles in several movies. He made a full length character in this film and then went on to become a hero.
    • Music director Mickey J Mayer also got much appreciation for his youthful music.

  • Sidelights

    90% of the film was shot in Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) near Gandipet, Hyderabad as director Sekhar Kammula was an alumni of the college.
