Gharshana story at a glance

Gharshana is a new age action cop film with Venkatesh and Asin in the lead roles. It marked the era of a brilliant director with taste and style. It also showcased Asin in a role with substance without falling short of glamour.

Story Details:
Ramachandra (Venkatesh) is DCP of Hyderabad city and has a team who eliminate people with criminal records. He is a duty minded guy without much relationships or emotional bonding. It is when he happens to see Maya (Asin) a mathematics teacher in a school, despite being an IIT graduate. It is however Maya who proposes Ramachandra about her love first but the latter doesn’t reciprocate much. The reason for it is- his profession. He fears if he has an emotional connect with somebody it would not only harm the person but also his work. But things turn different when Ramachandra plans to marry Maya and everything goes smoothly. It is when Panda (Salim Baig) a criminal kidnaps Maya with a grudge that Ramachandra’s team kills his brother at one encounter. Rest of the story is about how Ramachandra confronts Panda and wins back the love of his life- Maya.

Performances:
Venkatesh is terrific as the new age cop and his dressing is fantastic. He looks like million bucks in action sequences and the way he handles the IPS image. Asin is dignified and wonderful as the female lead with strong conviction. She looks adorable in the songs and suits perfectly for the role of Maya. Salim Baig is thunderous as the villain who gives chills with his body language and voice.

Technical Aspects:
Story by Gautham Menon is fresh in taking .Dialogues by Kulasekhar are very much of Mani Ratnam earlier era. But at the same time the Gautham Menon’s stamp is not faltered.  Harris Jayaraj’s music is huge asset for a power packed film of this sort and songs like Cheliya Cheliya, Ye Chilipi, Andagada became instant hits.  Action sequences by Peter Hein are treat for the eyes. Editing by Anthony is another great asset for the film’s overall look.
