Buddhimanthudu story at a glance
Buddhimanthudu is one classic which enabled Bapu-Ramana to financially stabilize in the field of Cinema and let them continue their creative work. ANR is seen in this film as a very humble and innocent purohit as well as an aggressive youngster. Vijayanirmala, who acted as sister to ANR in most of the previous films was paired as heroine in this film. Interestingly Buddhimanthudu was released in the year 1969 on ANRs birthday and was supposedly like a dedication for him on his special day.
Performances:
ANR excels both as the innocent purohit and the aggressive youngster- which the character he played demands. Vijayanirmala acts her best yet again and Allu Ramalingiah’s trademark dialogue “Amyamya” – a term used for bribe is still in usage by common Telugu public!
Technical Aspects:
Ramana’s dialogues for the film are a huge asset and Bapu’s artistic direction speaks mountains in each frame. He could show ANR most glamorous even in Black and White those days. K.V.Mahadevan’s music established this film was one of the musical hits in Bapu-Ramana’s combination.
