Janaki Ramudu story at a glance

Janaki Ramudu is a feel good musical love story starring Nagarjuna and Vijayashanthi in lead roles based on the concept of reincarnation. Though there are many love stories right from Mooga Manasulu which deal with a similar concept, good music, performances and the rural touch of the 80s made this to stand out as a unique film.

Story Details:
The story deals with an eternal love story between Rambabu(Nagarjuna) and Janaki  (Vijayashanthi) in two different time lines. The film begins with a current timeline where Ramudu and Janaki are modern lovers who happen to visit a village. They start getting reminded of their past lives by reaching the place. The story drifts back to their past life where Lakshmi is a villager who is passionate about dance, music and Ranga teaches her on how to sing. Due to some hardships in their village and economical differences, they die in sad circumstances. With their love being immortal, they are reborn in the current era. Rest of the story is about whether the current era Rambabu and Janaki unite.

Performances:
Nagarjuna does well as the 80s youngster and a villager who is passionate about music. His attire suits perfectly for both the roles. Vijayashanthi is excellent as the female lead and looks adorable in songs. Mohan Babu delivers his best as the villain and Jeevitha is pretty good as the cousin of Nagarjuna. Brahmanandam and Sutthi Velu offer comic relief and Satyanarayana gives a typically good performance.

Technical Aspects:
The film heavily relies on the storyline and screenplay. Satyanand does best in the dialogues department. Shiva Shakti Datta and Vijayendra Prasad do well in the story department. Music is a huge asset for the film with K.V.Mahadevan’s melodious tunes and great lyrics by Athreya, Veturi and Sirivennela. Naa Gonthu Shruthi Lona and Naa Hrudayam became all time hits. Direction by K.Raghavendra Rao proves yet again why he is the most successful commercial director in Tollywood.
