Bahudoorapu Baatasari story at a glance

After the tremendous success of Premabhishekam, the ANR-Dasari combo attracted the audience’s attention. Though their next film Meghasandesam earned accolades and awards, the film couldn’t fetch commercially much because of the classy image. A determined Dasari made the script of Bahudoorapu Baatasari in order to get another commercial hit with ANR. This film is totally contrasting as it features ANR in a funny entertaining role which would offer relief to the audience. This was completely contrasting to ANR’s image in Premabhishekam and Dasari made sure it shouldn’t be made for awards in mind but for the sole purpose of entertainment- especially for women audience. He gave the responsibility rightfully to his mentor Palagummi Padmaraju. M.K.Dharmaraju, a prominent film story writer also aided Padmaraju for the story. Sadly, Padmaraju was no more when the film finally released. Dasari dedicated the film to his guru in fond memory.

Story Details:
Prasad( ANR) is a sincere and idealist police officer. His friend Avataram (Dasari) is complete opposite. He is just a man of fake words who survives on empty promises. Prasad’s wife (Sujatha) is a good natured woman. Avataram’s wife Sahasra (Ramaprabha) is an innocent lady. She is too gullible and believes whatever her husband tells her. Prasad respects his father (Gummadi) a lot. Avataram on the other hand throws his father (Allu Ramalingaiah) away from the house and tells everyone that his father is dead. Prasad has two sons (Narayana Rao, Raja) and a dumb daughter (Suhasini). Despite looking after his kids so well and getting them married to their right choices, his children abandon Prasad and his wife. To make things worse, Prasad’s father dies. It is when an affluent man (Vankayala) is rescued by Prasad in a dangerous situation.  The former gives all the property responsibility over Prasad. At the same time Prasad’s kids fall in financial crisis and request their father to help. But Prasad refuses to do so. Finally, Prasad gives all the property to his children and leaves the house as a distant nomad (Bahudoorapu Baatasari). Avataram’s story also moves in parallel with Prasad’s as his father returns home and teaches the former a lesson along with his grandchildren.

Performances:
ANR is picture perfect as the sincere police officer and a lovable family man. His acting in emotional scenes is phenomenal. Sujatha is brilliant as the female lead and a dedicated wife to Prasad. Dasari is highly engaging as Avataram- a representation of a materialistic man. Narayana Rao and Raja are good as the children of Prasad. Suhasini is adequate. Allu Ramalingaiah is fantastic as the determined father. Gummadi gets a good role as a considerate father of Prasad.

Technical Aspects:
Palagummi Padmaraju wrote a thought provoking family drama with high entertainment values as well. The drama element is brilliantly balanced with comedy relief throughout the film. Music by Ramesh Naidu is melodious. Dasari makes sure the perfect drama is showcased on screen with a unique image of ANR coming forth.
