Telugu Cinema is highly fortunate in the production department thanks to a great personality named Dr. Daggubati Ramanaidu . Born in Karamchedu, Prakasham District , Ramanaidu has been awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award during the year 2010. He has produced more films not only in Telugu but also in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Oriya , Malayalam and so on. Ramanaidu holds a unique honour in Limca books of records as the most prolific producer in Indian Cinema.
Ramanaidu is one gifted producer who never compromised on production values when a film’s subject demanded it. His films have the wonderful stamp of reliable entertainment for every audience alike. He began his film production career in 1963 with the film Anuraagam with the production name “Suresh Productions”. Sr.NTR starrer Ramudu Bheemudu was his career defining film which brought him to prominence in Telugu Cinema. One can never forget the beautiful song “Telisindhi Le” featuring Jamuna and Sr.NTR from this film! ANR and Vanisri starrer Prem Nagar (1971) was another milestone for Ramanaidu which had a great story and high production values ahead of its time.
Ramanaidu’s success streak continued with many more memorable as well as commercially successful films such as Jeevana Tarangalu, Soggadu, Mangalya Balam, Devatha featuring Sobhan Babu and Seceretary which again had ANR and Vanisri in the lead. He has been instrumental in establishing the 'New age ANR' with family oriented subject and give a hit pair “ANR-Vanisri” to Telugu Cinema!
Ramanaidu has been quite interested to act as well and was often spotted as either a cameo or a serious character role in many of his produced movies. He has established studios and offered great help to Telugu Cinema for the back-end work needed. Jandhyala’s evergreen comedy film “Aha Na Pellanta” starring Rajendra Prasad also comes from Ramanaidu’s production house.
Ramanaidu’s sons Suresh Babu and none other than Victory Venkatesh are also working in the same industry. While Suresh Babu looks after the production department, Venkatesh enthralled the Telugu Audience with his versatile selection of roles. Some of the popular movies which starred Venkatesh in their own production banner are Coolie no. 1, Bobbili Raja, Prema, Preminchukundham Raa, Dharma Chakram, Jayam Manadera, Kalisundham Raa, Malleshwari and so on. Incidentally, Rana Daggubati (son of Suresh Babu) also was launched in acting through Sekhar Kammula’s 'Leader' in 2010.
