Suhasini Maniratnam is one of the most versatile personalities in Telugu Cinema. She not only excels in acting but also ventured out to other aspects of film making such as Dialogue Writing, Direction and Production. Beginning her career from early 80s in Telugu, she still continues to enthrall the audience with her charm and prodigious acting skills.

Her breakthrough film in Telugu was Manchu Pallaki-Vamshi’s first directorial venture. The film starred Chiranjeevi as well and was a huge hit. In fact, this film paved the way for one of the hit combinations in Telugu Cinema- Chiranjeevi and Suhasini. The great actress never looked back with memorable roles in films like Mangamma Gari Manavadu, Challenge,  Sindhu Bhairavi and so on. In fact, Sindhu Bhairavi fetched her first National award for best female performance. Apart from acting in commercial cinema – she even acted in interesting roles in films such as Sirivennela, Chantabbai etc., Suhasini has been constantly featured in Women Oriented films of the 80-90s era like Swathi, Amma, Akka Mogudu and so on. Her role of a considerate mother in Amma Cheppindhi released in 2005 is another great example of her wonderful acting skills.

She continued her brilliant acting marathon even with recent successful films like Nuvu Naaku Nacchav, Leader and Gabbar Singh as well.

Suhasini has an own mark of acting style all the way in her career. She can be termed as one of the trendsetters in Telugu Cinema who could appear graceful, earthly as well as glamorous in the same frame. She is especially wonderful in emotional sequences where she never over does anything but still the impact is made.

Suhasini along with her husband Mani Ratnam- one of the directorial prides in Indian Cinema worked as a dialogue writer for many of his films and also looks after his production house- Madras Talkies.
