If Film Industry has to keep the cash register ring continuously, then films must have to hit the box-office regularly. And if it’s a film starring a big hero, undoubtedly the movie will mint some good money. The golden era of Tollywood in the 80s and 90s witnessed our actors working throughout the year without any breaks. The acting pace of Veteran heroes ANR, NTR and Shoban Babu was too hasty unlike the contemporary actors. Interestingly and Surprisingly, Superstar Krishna acted in 16 films in a year during his times whereas now, the trend has gradually gone down. Actors like ANR and Shoban Babu, in particular, were instrumental in carrying forward this trend of bringing any kind of genres within months.

Back then in the period of 2000-10, TFI has hardly witnessed a film from top stars like Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu. But later, the actors have put down the lazy trend and started lighting the screens with one or two films per year.

Powerstar Pawan Kalyan has just one film to his account in this year so far. In 2012, the actor scorched the screens with Gabbar Singh and Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu, but he is nowhere in the race to bring his second movie this year. But his popularity in social media will indeed keep his visibility high.

With just one film, Mahesh Babu has wrapped his business for this year.  Mahesh and Venkatesh starrer ‘Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ was released for Sankranthi, 2013 and his next film ‘1-Nenokkadine’ under the direction of Sukumar will light the screens for Sankranthi, 2014.

Rebel star Prabhas is playing a different game from others. This Tollywood hunk has already said good-bye for the year 2013 with Mirchi. He has shown what he is capable of when his ‘Mirchi’ turned out to be the Blockbuster and it is the first film in Prabhas career to enter the 40 crore club. Prabhas is now busy with Rajamouli’s Magnum opus Baahubali, which might light the screens in early 2015.

Stylish star Allu Arjun also said good-bye for this year with Iddarammayilatho... under the direction of Puri Jagannadh. For now, Bunny is starring in Surender Reddy’s Race Gurram opposite Shruti Hassan and this film is getting ready for Pongal, 2014. But fans can smack their lips to watch their star again on the big screen in 2013. Ram Charan starrer ‘Yevadu’ will feature Bunny and Kajal Aggarwal in the special roles and this film is all set for a grand release on 19th December, 2013.

Minimum guaranty actor Ravi Teja has also come out of his usual trend of releasing 4-5 movies per year. The actor, who earlier faced four disasters in a desultory fashion, scored a decent hit with Balupu in 2013. Post Balupu success, the actor is yet to start his next project as he is concentrating highly on the story and screenplay of the film. Actor Gopichand also confined to a single film (Saahasam) this year and the stalwart is now doing a film under the direction of B.Gopal.

Top league actor Balakrishna did not bring any of his films this year. After Srimanarayana in 2012, the actor currently working for a film titled ‘Legend’ under the direction of Boyapati Srinu.

When asked about why they aren’t queuing up with their films, the actors defend it by saying it’s all because of lack of proper stories. Fans always expect a lot from top-league actors and so, directors & producers have to make a film on the basis of star’s image. As a result, the films are getting delayed and the cost of production is going high. To maintain their star status, top star heroes won’t prefer low-budget flicks. Heavy story discussions and lag in selecting the female lead are deferring the movie away from the schedule. Besides all these obstacles, political agitations are adding fuel to the fire.

Above are the reasons why, our actors are maintaining very low score for this year. Let us hope our heroes will ride high in 2014.
