American Hustle and Gravity top Oscar nominations

Oscars 2014 nominations announced.

Many films, many artists and many technicians, everyone’s aspiration is just the one – winning an Academy award. Starting from Hollywood’s finest actor Leonardo Dicaprio to debutant Barkhad Abdi (Captain Philips), everyone is in the awe of prestigious Academy award.

Among many English films released in 2013, American Hustle and Gravity (3D) lead the Oscars with 10 nominations each. Besides these two, slavery drama ’12 Years of Slave’ received nine nominations in different categories including Best Picture and Best adapted Screenplay.

Alfonso Cuaron’s science-fiction thriller Gravity has received amazing response for stunning cinematic visuals as well as its brilliant making. Sandra Bullock, the film’s leading lady is also competing in the category of Best actress in a leading role.

David O. Russell’s comedy drama American Hustle starring Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper and Amy Adams is based on FBI ABSCAM operation in the late 1970’s. The film, which released in December 2013, has opened to broad positive reviews from critics. Christian Bale and Amy Adams are also in the race for the Best actor and Best actress categories respectively.

An action-thriller Captain Philips, a biographical drama Dallas Buyers Club and a comedy-drama Nebraska, each secured six nominations.

Keep waiting for the big day – The Academy will announce the winners and hand out the awards at Los Angeles on 2nd March.
