Shankara is an upcoming entertainer starring Nara Rohith and Regina Cassandra in lead roles. The film is directed by Thathineni Satya Prakash and produced by R.V.Chandramouli Prasad. It is a remake of Tamil hit Mouna Guru. Music for the film is composed by Rowdy fame Sai Karthik. Here is an iQlik exclusive audio review of the album:

The album begins with a high voltage title track Shankara with power packed rhythm section and chants of Lord Shiva. The track has a philosophical touch associated with it and has some good lyrics by Ramajogayya Sastry as well, describing the nature of Lord Shiva. Interludes are fast paced with signature flute and string section.

After a heavy laden track, it is time for a groovy melody Yedalona composed with electronic sounds and Hip-Hop styled rhythms. The lead voice of Sameer is given an electronic touch making the track sound contemporary. The rhythm is mellowed and blended with electric guitar touches in timely fashion. The track creates a feel good ambience for the listener throughout its progress.

Now the album takes a new turn with an emotional solo Nee Pranam sung greatly by Ranjith. The track features great electric guitars, paced up rhythm and features great energy in the string section. It is undoubtedly the best song of the album. Interludes are well composed with electric guitars and string section. Lyrics by Balaji deserve a special mention for the neat poetic lines.

Maradala Maradala is a folksy item track with power packed pace and funky lyrics. The track is essentially fun filled with respect to orchestration and the way it is presented. Singers Divija Karthik and Sai Karthik deliver what is exactly needed for such track. The rhythm and guitar sections deliver the best for it.

The album enters finale with a progressive short ballad O Sharaba with peculiar rhythm and good piano touches. While Sai Karthik gives a neat performance in vocals, Divija Karthik could have sounded more emotional for such composition. The interludes are rightfully composed with mild string section and rhythms.

Verdict:
Shankara is a neat album from the new talent Sai Karthik. The album features good melodies and solo tracks. However, it would make the listener wanting more from a commercial Telugu Album of this sort.

Rating: 3/5
