The name ‘Mahesh Babu’ creates sense of wonder, admiration and tremendous style not only among Telugu Audience but also in the national arena. Lovably called as the ‘Prince’, this actor’s milky boy looks, and charm enthralled the audience right from the beginning. With initial films like Rajakumarudu and Murari, people looked at him as the sensitive young man who can portray ‘The-Boy-Next-Door’ looks and a character loved by the family. But, Mahesh Babu is something more than a charming young man or a handsome star.  The roles he chose in his career till now itself is an example of this.

If we look a little more in detail about Mahesh’s career, the biggest breakthrough he got after Murari was with Gunasekhar’s Okkadu. The audience was thrilled to see a charming young man transform into an angry youth - who can add his own style in a character. The scene where the character ‘Ajay’ takes a break over Charminar’s roof in the nightfall, watching the crescent moon while having a relaxed smoke became a most defining scene in Telugu Cinema that year. Despite being quite young and upcoming actor then, Mahesh Babu could deliver a classy performance opposite an experienced actor like Prakash Raj.  This moment redefined Mahesh Babu as an actor and the whole of Tollywood realized the tremendous potential he had- along with the unmistakable charm he always carries.  This ‘New Age Reserved Hero’ look earned Mahesh numerous female fans as well.

Nijam featured Mahesh Babu in a typical ‘Innocent Guy Turning Aggressive’ role which was not greatly received as a film, but his performance was greatly commended by the audience. Still, the complete scope of intensity was yet to be unleashed! Trivikram’s Athadu (2005) featured him in a completely mellowed down hero role, which was like a wonder come true on screen. He acted mostly with his expressions, eye contact and body language throughout the film.

The biggest breakthrough for Mahesh Babu came next in the form of Puri Jagannadh’s Pokiri (2006). It was a remarkable transformation for him as an actor because he broke all the judgments made on him as an actor. When the promo showed Mahesh uttering the punch dialogue ‘Evadu Kodithe Dimma Tirigi Mind Block Aipoddo, Aade Pandu Gadu’, people were mesmerized. When the film was released, rest was history. It became highest grossing Telugu Film till then and for Mahesh at a personal level, it showed that he can perform outgoing roles with equal ease.

Mahesh joined Trivikram again with Khaleja (2010) after a series of flops with unfaltering energy. People were taken aback with the energy levels of Mahesh Babu- not in action sequences but in comedy timing this time. People were so overwhelmed by this transformation that, it took another film Dookudu directed by Srinu Vaitla for them to completely digest this comedy dimension in him! Mahesh Babu became totally contrasting to what he was portrayed earlier- fearless, complete ease, and never give a damn to the characters around! This winning streak continues in his later films Businessman, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and in the upcoming film Aagadu as well.

It is indeed a rare feat for a modern generation actor who can modulate his performance so convincingly for underplaying as well as aggression and Mahesh Babu did it with great ease.  The craze he has in Telugu Film lovers is so evident that, Indraganti Mohanakrishna made a film Ashta Chemma which featured Colors Swathi in the role of Mahesh’s diehard fan!

iQlikmovies.com wishes the complete actor Mahesh Babu a very happy birthday and wishing him the best for his upcoming venture Aagadu!
