It is true that films are made out of passion but at a broader perspective, it is all about business and commercials. But what exactly sets a standard for talking financials? Reports say the new Tamil movie from Shankar ‘Ai’ is creating mind boggling records. The satellite rights in Tamil have reportedly been taken by Jaya TV for Rs 25 crores.

The satellite rights for the Telugu version ‘Manoharudu’ is being tried for Rs 10 crores by few TV channels. Same is the case with S S Rajamouli’s Baahubali. Its territorial rights got sold at heavy prices. The soon to release Mahesh Babu starrer Aagadu also had a similar response. Just the audio coverage rights were reportedly sold at Rs 50 lakhs.

On the other hand, there are people like RGV who say films can be made without any cost. But if you observe the pattern, such business is only for glorified films. On the contrary, films that don’t have appeal have no business. Big star’s movies songs are played constantly in FM Radio channels but for small films there is no such privilege. They have to pay to the Channels and get the songs played.

For them, the RGV formula works. Yes, it is accepted that industry’s glory remains but that is only for the glorified movies and not others. These days, crowds are not going to all flicks. Only if families go in large numbers business happens. Of course, there are exceptions but then profits for such films are just enough to take the filmmakers to safe zone.
