Young talented and National Award winning actress Swetha Basu Prasad who was recently caught in a sex scandal in Hyderabad has been admitted in a remand home. It is learnt that she is apparently cheering up kids and other women in the remand home. Moreover, Swetha’s mother was not permitted to meet her yet, say cources.
However, there are nation-wide debates and discussions going over this issue. However few big shots like Rani Mukherjee, Aamir Khan, Farhan Akthar and others refused to respond over this, Swetha is gaining support from many others. There were numerous tweets and comments supporting her condition.
“A girl is in the news and in prison for prostitution, why not her high profile clients? We are so damn sexist... #Pathetic #FullOfMCP'S” tweeted Bollywood heroine Aditi Rao Hydari.
"Breaks my heart about Shweta Prasad. Remember meeting her when she was a little girl in Iqbal .. Great actress..I'm know she will bounce bck (sic)." tweeted Upen Patel, yet another B’wood actor.
In addition to them, TV Actress Sakshi Tanwar who acted as on-screen mother to Swetha in a TV Show also came to her support! Expressing distress over the entire issue, Sakshi said -
“Few days ago that adorable little child of mine on screen hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Since then I have been getting a lot of phone calls and messages asking me if I “read about my on-screen daughter”. My reply: “Yes! I read about her because the reports are only writing about her. Had they written about her so called high profile “businessmen” clients involved, I would have read about them too”. Honestly, I’m quite disappointed that the media reports have so selectively guarded their identity and names. I have no interest in knowing about those degenerate “businessmen”, but I would have loved to see their names come to the fore so that their families — mothers, daughters, sisters and wives — and friends would get an insight into their recreational habits.”
Keeping aside the sympathy and empathy Swetha is gaining, there are few unanswerable valid questions from Swetha’s mother –
““My daughter is not a criminal, why is her name being maligned like this? What if this irresponsible reporting along with her photographs by the media has a long-lasting scarring impact on her? What if tomorrow she finds it impossible to carry the bitter remains of her life and takes a drastic step, God forbid…”
However, coming to the support of Swetha, an award winning filmmaker like Hansal Mehta (Shahid fame) has offered her a role in his upcoming film. Even Tollywood filmmaker Rajamouli and yesteryear heroine Khushboo also supported her.
