Ram Charan has established himself as one of the actors with good star image and tremendous mass appeal among the young heroes. He has proved to be the ideal mega hero by carrying his father Chiranjeevi’s legacy in terms of commitment, dances and performance as well. After the super success of Yevadu earlier this year, Ram Charan is all set to entertain the audience with a family entertainer Govindudu Andari Vadele directed by the versatile Krishna Vamsi. On the eve of the film’s release on Oct 1, here is a chitchat with the Mega Power Star:

About the title GAV title..
Well, the film is made on high family values and speaks about a person who believes in family values and is loved by everyone around him. However, I am not playing the title role Govindudu in the film!

Your film has been compared to earlier hit movie Seetharamayya Gari Manavaralu. Your comment?
It is inspired from that masterpiece but absolutely no comparison.

You have been doing power packed action films till now in your career. How come a sudden shift to family dramas?
I wanted to do a family drama right from Magadheera days. Finally, it happened with GAV. This is the only reason why I rejected Koratala Shiva’s script as well.

Tell us about experience working with Krishna Vamshi..
He might have had flops in career but his creativity never faltered. I really liked the script of GAV. Ninne Pelladatha and Murari are my favorite KV films!

How did you feel when KV delivered an emotional speech during the trailer launch event?
It was a real emotional moment for him. It is natural for anyone to break out at some point of time. I am really glad I could work with such a great director.

Tell us about your working experience with Srikanth..
I’ve known him since Shankar Dada MBBS days. He is more like my Babai. I am extremely glad to have worked with him.

How was it working with a senior actor like Prakash Raj?
The film got much needed energy and has been complemented with his presence. It was total fun and a good learning experience working with Prakash Raj.

What was the reason behind replacing Raj Kiran with Prakash Raj in GAV?
When we watched the initial rushes featuring Raj Kiran, me, KV and dad felt the nativity was somehow missing. It was a collective decision and Prakash Raj did not let us down. I am really happy with the output now and have no regrets about the replacement at all.

Of late, high budget films are bombing at the box-office. So what were the measures taken by you?
Well, this film is a well planned economical film. We finished the shooting in less number of days. We announced the release date at the beginning itself and worked towards it. Now, the film is releasing in time as well.

About the competition between yours and Mahesh Babu's films these days?
That is sheer coincidence. Me and Srinu Vaitla planned to release our films with a gap of at least two weeks.

What happened to your project with Srinu Vaitla?
I am yet to hear the script. Will confirm once things materialize.

How do you react to reviews and criticism about your work?
I hardly follow the reviews in newspapers or websites. Of course, once in a while, I do go through reviews and get to know feedback. It's just their opinion and I respect it.

What is the reason behind you venturing into business?
I had to do it by the request of Upasana. She looks after everything quite well.

What is your take on experimentation in films?
I really don’t know what experimentation is all about. What really matters to me is the happiness of the audience and my producers!

There has been a sentiment in Mega Heroes about 7th film being hit and 8th film getting flopped..
I didn’t know about this. If it really exists, then I will break it with GAV!

Please tell us about Chiranjeevi’s 150th film..
There are few stories in hand. I will let you know once a story finalizes!

What happened to your film with Kona Venkat?
He has narrated the script to me. The film would begin next year.

Any special reason behind not signing Mani Ratnam's film?
Mani Sir narrated the story to me. But I felt I wouldn’t suit the role and hence left it. You will second me when the movie releases soon.

Your Bollywood debut could not be a huge success as expected. Your comment?
Yes.. somehow I couldnot relate to the character and it did not work. I regret for not being able to dub for the role. For my next Hindi film I will deliver much better.

Okay.. Thanks and wish you the best for GAV!
Thanks a lot!
