In an era of music which was dominated by stalwarts like maestro Ilaiyaraaja, K V Mahadevan and others, a whizkid came in the year 1992 and took the nation by storm with his tunes. He is none other than A R Rahman and unlike the contemporary Indian music directors, the Madras Mozart took a giant lunge and became international.

Today, Rahman is an Oscar winner but there is a lot of foreign influence which helped him earn his accolades. This was revealed by him in an interview recently. Sharing his thoughts, Rahman reportedly mentioned how life for him in a foreign country gave more freedom to be himself and explore his creativity.

Though he had few lifestyle issues, spending time in a foreign country ensured there was no disturbance and he could walk anywhere, sit anywhere and do his thing. Whereas in India, all Rahman could do was just create music without going out anywhere due to the frenzy fans. Well, he spoke like a true free spirited artist there.
