From the time the bifurcation took place, the only big mystery surrounding many was whether Tollywood would shift its base from Hyderabad to Vizag. While the speculations are on, the latest development is almost confirming that the cine circuit is not at all keen to go to the steel city.
The reason for that is the latest decision by the Andhra Pradesh government. Apparently, the time is approaching for the Nandi awards to be given away and news is that the money has been reduced on the prizes. Earlier, the best category awards used to get Rs 2 lakhs each but now it has been relegated to just Rs 50,000.
Sources say the cine members are very upset with this decision and more annoyed due to the reply given by the government authorities that they are running low on budget. The cine seniors are asking “When they are spending a bomb in terms of government related activities like overseas trips and what not, why not for the entertainment industry which has always come forward to support.” All in all, the cine fraternity is feeling very unfair. While that is the case in AP, it is not sure what is going to be the situation in Telangana in terms of these awards.
