Plot:
The newly married couple Harsha (Harshavardhan) and Mohini (Poorna) shift into a new and highly equipped apartment. But Mohini is haunted by a soul that is longing for a sexual pleasure. How did the couple fall prey to the haunting soul and how did they escape from its prey forms the crux of the story.
Performances:
Poorna: We know she is an able actress and she gives an impressive performance in this second instalment as well. Being hot and being haunted is the job on repeat mode for her in this film.
Harshavardhan: Even he does not disappoint you. Wait till the end to catch his brilliance.
Chintu: This talented actor has once again put up a laudable show and lived upto the vision and expectations of his director.
The rest of the cast including Sanjjanaa, Nikhita and others just lived their shortlived characters.
Direction:
Ravi Babu is one unique versatile filmmaker who indeed surprised us with Avunu. The film only earned him the critical approbation but indeed made him the new ray of hope for the horror genre. The captivating performances and the kinematics of Avunu are something that left an impactful experience for the viewers.
Well coming to Avunu 2, the film looks like an honest attempt to sincerely scare you. But unfortunately the film might seriously bore you. The film has the same able cast of Avunu – Harshavardhan (as Harsha) Mohini (Poorna) and Mohan (Chintu) but some bland writing has left punctured the bubble.
Besides the captivating performances by the lead cast, some repetitive and predictable scenes start irking you after a while. Though the director uses his interior set to the best, his old school tactics to scare might impress the first timers but definitely not those cinephiles who are used to horror flicks. He chose to keep the story simple, leaks a crucial lead in the very beginning and completely relies upon his scary knacks. However, Ravi Babu smartly sews his scary plot around a commercially viable point that might keep the masses engaged.
First Half: The film that kicks off with a creepy voiceover eventually sets in an apartment and a series of insipid and predictive knacks do not get the story going.
Interval Bang: The pre-interval episode does not get any better to hold your attention and keep up your curiosity levels.
Second Half: This segment finally gains some momentum with more characters engaged in the plot and the last 15mins of the film should keep you hooked.
Merits:
- Captivating Performances by the lead cast especially Harsha, Poorna and Mohan.
- Cinematography and Art Direction.
De-merits:
- Bland writing with predictive scenes and lackadaisical narration
- The backgroundscore gets irksome at a point.

Music:
The background score by Sekhar Chandra was mediocre with some zany and desperate stuff to scare the audience.
Others:
Cinematography, Editing and art direction departments need a special mention.
Verdict:
Avunu 2 is a bland and insipid horror flick for the beginners but not for families, especially kids. You can try it once if you are a hardcore Ravibabu/Avunu fan oresle safely give it a miss!
