You know the unwritten custom here in our film industry…right?

The sons of heroes, heroines, producers, supporting actors and others often become heroes again. Well, the directors are not included in the list because sometimes their sons might become directors too! The point here is that the star kids usually inherit their parents’ talents and carry the torch forward. This applies to the music fraternity as well.

For instance, Shankar Mahadevan's son Siddharth Mahadevan is an upcoming star singer. The son of Melody Brahma Mani Sharma’s son Sagar Mahati also turned a composer recently. Now, the son of the Mozart of Madras AR Rahman, AR Ameen also made his musical debut at a very early age and that too with a challenging composition. Usually in cases like these, the kids are made a part of the song chorus but the interesting part here is that Ameen sang a solo in Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film O Kadhal Kanmani (Ok Bangaram in Telugu).

Going into the details, the audio of Ok Kanmani and Ok Bangaram were released online last night. As expected, the audio was an instant hit and Ameen’s number was not any other routine number but indeed a traditional Islamic composition titled “Maula Wa Sallim…” which is indeed a difficult composition. When some big heads in the music fraternity find Rahman’s compositions challenging, Ameen gave a brilliant rendition. Well, Rahman and Mani Ratnam experiment purposefully and making Ameen sing such a composition has increased the curiosity levels over this upcoming love story.
