Lion is an upcoming high voltage action entertainer starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Trisha and Radhika Apte in lead roles. Mani Sharma, who gave blockbuster hits like Samarasimha Reddy and Narasimha Naidu for Balakrishna earlier has composed music for this film. Here is an iQlik exclusive audio review of the album:

The funky album begins at a high note with One and Only Lion – an out and out mass number which naturally speaks about the greatness of the hero.  Mani Sharma sticks to his yesteryear flavor in terms of the tune, presentation and interludes as well. However, as the song progresses the listener can get a de-ja-vu of Mani’s earlier mass compositions.

It is time for a signature Mani styled duet Akasam sung well by Vijay Prakash and Pranavi. The orchestration is well equipped with timely usage of Sarod and indigenous Shehnai which establishes it as a fun filled duet. The effortless blend between melody and new age fusion is done fairly well.

The next track Pilla has all the makings of a street styled masala number with foot tapping rhythm, fancy lyrics and entertaining presentation. The no-nonsense style in which the track is presented might appeal well for the mass audiences.

Aisa Ambani Pilla is a groovy track with trendy trumpet attempting a lead with the main vocals. Despite having some enjoyable moments now and then during the track’s progress, there is no strikingly thumping moment for the listener’s thrill.

The album gets a masterstroke classical touch with Ananganaga sung by the extremely talented Madhu Balakrishnan.  This track creates a blissful hearing ambience with neatly laced interludes, elegant tune and the storytelling style of presentation. Undoubtedly, this is a winner in the album!

Verdict:
Lion is a typical commercial album from the successful combination of Balakrishna and Mani Sharma. It falls short with melodious numbers but scores amicably well in mass department.
