Sankranthi season is a prestigious slot that filmmakers in Telugu cinema vie for. Every year we have at least 2-3 big ticket films in the Sankranthi race making it the festive season even more special for the fans.

Even this Sankranthi 2016, we have four films in the big fight but as the festival is around the corner, doubts over the releases are only growing. At this juncture, let’s see which film is in and out of the Sankranthi race –

Nannaku Prematho: This YoungTiger Jr NTR-Sukumar is undoubtedly the most awaited film of the Sankranthi season. The film is a special one in many ways and on top of it, the trailer and songs being smash hits, Jr NTR fans have pinned high hopes on the film. However, NPT has major proportion of post-production work yet to be done that makes it challenging to hit the screens on Jan 13.

Soggade Chinni Nayana: King Nag’s prestigious socio-fantasy entertainer Soggade Chinni Nayana that is supposed to release this Sankranthi (Jan 15) is likely to get postponed, according to trade analysts. Unavailability of abundant theatres is estimated to be the key reason behind this. On the other hand, Nagarjuna & Annapurna Studious have been still promoting the film as Sankranthi release. We need to wait for a while for an official clarification.

Meanwhile, two films seem to be pretty confident over their arrival this Sankranthi season. One is Nandamuri Natasimham Balakrishna’s Dictator. This commercial potboiler is supposed to release a while ago but however, its berth is confirmed for this Jan 14.

Along with the mighty Dictator, crazy Express Raja is also in this prestigious Sankranthi fight. This UV Creations-Merlapaka Gandhi’s entertainer starring Sharwanand, Surabhi & others has indeed surprised one and all stepping in the big fight. The film has completed its censor formalities recently and has been given clean U. Express Raja is now racing ahead with beaming confidence to hit the screens on Jan 15.

Well, the atmosphere is still unpredictable and anything can happen. Keep watching the space for more updates.
