Babu Bangaram is an upcoming action entertainer starring Victory Venkatesh and Nayanathara in lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Ghibran and directed by small film wonder Maruthi. Here is an iQlik exclusive audio review of the album:

The album begins in slight trance mode with Mallela Vaanala penned by Rama Jogayya Sastry and confidently rendered by Naresh Iyer. The song is quite fresh and breezy to hear with the right punch of energy levels in the form of rhythm section.  Despite the modern look, the song breathes sweet Telugu lyrics which are a pleasure to hear.

Snehithudo is another fresh composition penned by Srimani  in the midst of sweet strings, mild treble and piano touches.  Ranjith KG does a commendable job for this lovely number which has a tinge of eeriness mingled with melodious touches.  The shades of Carnatic Raaga Dharmavathi is another highlight of the composition.

The peppiness is retained with title track Babu Bangaram with Gold Devraj’s quirky vocals and Bhaskarabhatla’s riveting lyrics giving the much needed throughout for the song.  The folksy drums section gives the song a mass angle.  The usage of Carnatic violin solo in the interlude is a masterstroke by Ghibran.

Dilluna Vaade is an action packed number sung by Dhanunjay and Rami in stylish vocals supported by Hip-Hop rhythm section.  The usage of Sitar is quite unlikely in this composition but gives it a fusion punch flavor.

The trance mode is back with a poetic number Raaka Raaka from the delicate vocals of Chinmayi and brilliant lyrics by Rama Jogayya Sastry. The string section as well as the steady rhythm makes sure that the song sounds fresh and appealing to the ears with a tinge of melody as well.  Interludes are woven with modern riffs, and 80s retro bass work which is quite brilliant to hear.

After ages, Venkatesh gets  signature theme track Babu Bangaram Theme which is woven impressively with high voltage loops and powerful chants portraying the hero as a powerful cop. The track sounds quite elevating and fun to hear.

The finale strikes hard with a mass number Tikku Tiklkantu composed by Maruthi’s regular composer JB who does a neat job. Uma Neha takes the front seat for this sultry number and does decent justice. It is indeed a fun filled ending for an entertaining musical ride.

Verdict:

Babu Bangaram is an impressive album from Ghibran who delivers fresh compositions which is a treat to hear!
