Mom Story:

Devaki (Sridevi) is a teacher and is having a smooth life with her husband and two daughters. But a small hitch is there in the form of Arya, who is actually Devaki’s step daughter. As a result, Arya doesn’t care much for Devaki out of hatred and Devaki accepts it as her fate. Things change when Arya gets raped by her classmates and despite approaching the court with all evidence, the family loses the case. This enrages Devaki a lot and she decides to take her own revenge. How that happens forms the rest.

Mom Artists Performances:

There is no detailing required about Sridevi’s performance. She has blended into the role of a vengeful mother amazingly. We feel as if we are travelling with Devaki than watching a film. We cannot help but say hatsoff to her for the way she displayed her emotions.

The girl Sajal Ali who did the role of Arya would get good marks for her performance.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui was fabulous, Akshay Khanna was impressive. The others did their bit as required.

Mom Analysis:

The concept of a grieving mother taking revenge after getting no justice has been there since long but no matter how many times it comes, success always favors it. The kick in the concept is such. Of course, it is the director who has to prepare it in that tight format. While the performances and the technical standards are very good, the scenes which convey the revenge aspect are a bit dull. In a way, this film seems to be a strong inspiration of the Korean movie Don’t Cry Mom and though there is a huge difference between the original and the Indian version, the film can be watched purely for Sridevi’s acting stamina and few gripping moments.

Mom Technical Values

The biggest assets to this film are music and cinematography. The visuals are in accordance with the mood of the film, music is simply superb and the background score has taken the movie to the next level. The story, screenplay and narration have been woven well and the dialogues add more weight. Editing is moderate. Costumes and art department were apt.

Mom Plus Points:

+ Sridevi, Akshay Khanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sajal Ali
+ Music
+ Cinematography

Mom Minus Points:

- Revenge Scenes

Mom Verdict:

Sridevi has not acted but lived the role, watch it for her!
