Tollywood’s one and only “Manmadhudu” and “All-rounder” Nagarjuna Akkineni was abuzz all through the year 2014. From silver screen to small screen, from newspapers to websites, Nagarjuna was all over. Let’s stroll down the lane and see what put Nag on the headlines -
> Nagarjuna started off this year on a low note with the expiry of his father legendary ANR on January, 2014. But the support of his family, well-wishers, industry and all the fans, Nag has moved on.
> With the fond memories of late ANR, the Akkineni family released the prestigious and most special film Manam on May 23, 2014. Being the first-of-its-kind film and marking the debut of Akhil Akkineni, this film was a film close to the heart of the Akkineni family and fans. Nagarjuna shared the significance of the movie in various interviews and occasions. He was also spotted getting emotional for the first time in Manam 100days function. However, he paid a grand tribute to his father in the form of Manam.
> Though he was instrumental in the activities of studios, Nag became the face of the Akkineni family and he had to strike a balance between different responsibilities (both professional and personal). And his elder son Naga Chaitanya’s Autonagar Surya release was the biggest worry for him and finally he could show the light of the day in June, 2014.
> Meanwhile, his small screen debut through Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu (KBC Telugu format) had many doubts when the first official announcement was made in April, 2014. But Nag zipped up the naysayers and emerged a winner with his prowess and panache. His MEK show (first installment) was a big success and currently the second season is also having a successful run. This show has brought Nag close to his fans, especially to the middle class.
> On the other end, his N convention was under threat of demolition when a recent land survey by GHMC identified 3 acres of the N Convention (owned by Nagarjuna) is located in the FTL and buffer zone of the nearby lake where according to rules, no building/construction is allowed.
> On the flip side, his younger son Akhil Akkineni’s debut was the biggest buzz of the season and Nag left no stone unturned to ensure his son had the best combination for a sure shot blockbuster debut. Akhil is finally debuting under the direction of VV Vinayak which will hit the screens in this New Year. Akhil is already a heartthrob with an impressive debut in Manam and a couple of eminent ads.
> Not just that, Nag is even trying to move ahead with his unique and versatile picks. He is currently shooting for his upcoming romantic thriller Soggade Chinni Naayana under the direction of debutante Kiran.
