Posted On 28 Dec 2015 - 02:56 AM

Until quite recently Horror films had nothing more entertaining to offer except to maintain suspense and thrill the audience on a serious note. However, Maruthi’s experimental film Prema Kadha Chitram introduced a new genre Horror Comedy and explored the potential of making audience laugh as well as get scared. This trend began in year 2013 and last year we witnessed a remarkable horror comedy Geethanjali penned by Kona Venkat. But the trend got its complete form in this year!

Many filmmakers shed their doubts in the success of horror comedy genre and came up with some impressive subjects this year. Geethanjali’s director Raja Kiran made Tripura- an interesting horror comedy which featured Colors Swathi in the lead role. The anchor turned director Omkar came forward with Raju Gaari Gadhi which became a great hit and fetching him fantastic returns. Madhura Sridhar’s Maaya had an interesting concept of premonition which will be remade in Hindi as well.

Apart from these films, Calling Bell and Lakshmi Manchu’s Budugu also were quite experimental in this particular genre. A new hope for experimentation got into Tollywood this year – undoubtedly !
