Tamannah Bhatia after receiving worldwide praise for her performance in the blockbuster hit ‘Baahubali’ is now set to appear in an item song in the upcoming Telugu action drama ‘Nannaku Prematho’.
Bumpy Beginnings
Since Tamannah’s debut on silver screen a decade ago, her career has gone through many ups and downs. She got off to a bumpy start with Chand Sa Roshan Chehra in 2005, which ended up crashing miserably at the box office. In the same year her first Telugu and Tamil films ‘Sri’ and ‘Kedi’ failed to rise up to the expectations as well. She followed it up with the lackluster ‘Viyabari’, though her performance was applauded by the critics. However, Sekhar Kammula’s ‘Happy Days’ and Balaji Sakthivel’s ‘Kalluri’ put her under the limelight and she also won a Telugu Filmfare nomination for her performance.
Not making a mark in Bollywood
Following her first commercial success ‘Padikkadavan’, Tamanna continued to grab headlines and turn heads down south before she returned to the mainstream of Bollywood with Sajid Khan’s Himmatwala, starring opposite Ajay Devgan. However the film was a disaster at the Box office and cast a gloom over Tamannah’s prospects in the Hindi Film Industry and her next Bollywood ventures which included ‘Humshakals’ and ‘Entertainment’ flopped too, making things worse.
Turnaround
However, her decent run in Andhra and Tamil Nadu continued until ‘Baahubali’ released earlier this year. Tamannah played a warrior princess in the movie and received both public adulation and critical acclaim for her role as the film went on to break countless records and become one of the highest grossing films in the history of Indian cinema. Tamanna is now caught up in a busy schedule, having to play the lead role in Nagarjuna’s ‘Oopiri’ and ‘Baahubali – The Conclusion’ which is releasing in December as a sequel to ‘Baahubali’.
In Nannaku Prematho
Rumors of her appearing in ‘Nannaku Prematho’ started surfacing recently amidst rising expectations for the film among the audience. The film, directed by Sukumar and produced jointly by Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra and Reliance Entertainment stars N.T. Rama Rao Jr. and Rakul Preeth Singh in the lead roles. Tamannah who is supposed to dance to an item number composed by Devi Sri Prasad in the movie is expected to pull massive crowds to the theater with her performance and the makers of the movie feel that this song will be one of biggest pluses of the movie. Many actresses often shy away from item numbers but Tamannah proved to be an exception. Already having danced to an Item track in ‘Alladu Sreenu’, Tamannah believes that performing an item number is a part of her job and stated that she had no inhibitions in doing so.
Shooting for ‘Nannaku Prematho’ had commenced from August this year and the movie is expected to it the screens on January 13, 2016 with the music being launched two to three weeks prior to the movie release.
‘Nannaku Prematho’ is also the twenty fifth film in NTR Jr’s career and the star actor is expect to deliver a power packed performance.
