Madhu Shalini on Goodachari’ breaking stereotypes

Sashi Kiran Tikka has directed a spy thriller film titled as Goodachari which will hit screens on 3rd August 2018. Its casting includes Adivi Sesh, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Madhu Shalini and Ravi Prakash.

Lack of challenging roles in Telugu Film industry for actresses

Madhu Shalini has acknowledged the disappointing side of Telugu film industry where lead actresses do not get challenging and variety of roles. Madhu Shalini has pointed out something which is realized by a lot of people linked with Telugu film industry but the same is not resonated at a bigger stage. Even the audience is comfortable with the fact that most of the movies are male oriented where the role of female counterpart is mainly to support the lead actor. Madhu has cited the same reason for her lack of on screen presence for so long.

What makes Goodachari different from the rest

Goodachari is an adaption of French play where Madhu will be playing a role of RAW agent. It is itself a big achievement for her to part of such un unorthodox project. With Goodachari, the audience will get to see three Telugu speaking women as the lead actress. They had to go through rigorous training for action sequence. One can be sure that they have left no stones unturned to justify their characters.

Madhu’s role in Goodachari

Goodachari will show Madhu playing secretary of spy. She is quite sure about the impact of her character. Her role in the movie is going to break stereotypes for audience as well as critics. The film has been shot on various locations including Hyderabad, Meghalaya, Bangladesh and USA and Madhu has been part of the shooting schedule across all locations. She has been surrounded by Telugu speaking actors and feels very comfortable among the same. She looks very glad to be part of such a project where her role will not be a typical next-door girl just like any other Telugu movie.

What lies ahead

Most of the movies that do well on box office are male centric and they do not provide prominent roles to lead actress. With a movie that gives strong characters to three actresses, one cannot ignore the fact that a lot of expectations have been attached to it. It will be milestone if it is received well by critics and audience. If successful with numbers, this movie can change the course of Telugu movie industry. If not much, but at least it can trigger the long-awaited debate for female actresses to get fair share in screenplay as well as salaries. It will be interesting to see how much of this get transformed into numbers.
