Ganesh (1998) story at a glance

Ganesh is a serious themed film starring Venkatesh speaking of Health issues in Andhra Pradesh and the political drama which surrounds it. This film featured Venkatesh in a challenging role who confronts the Health care facilities pertaining to Government Hospitals.

Story Details:
Ganesh (Venkatesh) is first seen as a prisoner in Musheerabad Central Jail and shown as a calm going person. Priya (Rambha) arrives in the Prison as a Jailor and she finds Ganesh very peculiar to observe. In one instance Priya gets Ganesh out of the jail in order to identify an escaped prisoner’s whereabouts and it is when she starts loving him. When Priya confesses her love to Ganesh, the latter tells about his sad flashback and the crimes he actually did. Ganesh’s family consists of his father (Chandramohan) and an adorable sister. When Ganesh’s father falls ill, they become victim of the corporate hospital corruption and he sadly loses his father and sister as well. Ganesh along with his IAS friend (Madhubala) plan to kill the Health Minister (Kota Srinivasa Rao) for the horrendous crimes done. Rest of the film is about how Ganesh questions the crime and corruption happening in AP which relates to Health care.

Performances:
Venkatesh is picture perfect for the role of Ganesh. He is seen as an innocent prisoner, a responsible journalist, a considerate brother and son for a family. His performance in climax scenes was something unforgettable. Rambha is decent as the female lead and has little to perform. Madhubala gives a great performance as the IAS officer and a great friend to Venkatesh. Kota Srinivasa Rao is vicious as the notorious Health Minister and gives a memorable performance. Brahmanandam, Babu Mohan, Padmanabham offer some comic relief. Veteran actress Revathy and Telangana Shakuntala bag some crucial roles in the film.

Technical Aspects:
Dialogues by Paruchuri Brothers prove yet again why they are called the most influential writing duo in Telugu Cinema. Issues like Health Care, Politics and corruption were brilliantly showcased by their lines. Cinematography by Ravindra Babu is impactful and the 90s Hyderabad was greatly shown.  Music by Mani Sharma is another asset for the film with haunting background score and very good songs. Direction by Tirupathi Swamy is fresh and unique.
