Antha Mana Manchike story at a glance
After the success of Mattilo Manikyam, Antha Mana Manichke was the film which set the platform of aggressive roles for Bhanumathi. Though popular hero Krishna acted in this film, he was only present for namesake. In this film, Bhanumathi played multiple roles as Hero, Herione and even technical aspects behind the screen! It was her acting extravaganza in every frame. She outperformed even senior actors like Suryakantham, Dhulipalla, Nagabhushanam, Sakshi Ranga Rao and Chayadevi.
Story Details:
Pattabhiramaiah (Nagaiah) is an affluent gentleman who is quite gullible and innocent. He helps a poor man Phani Bhushana Rao (Nagabhushanam) and both of them venture into tobacco business. The latter cheats Pattabhiramaiah in this business and becomes rich in the process. In peculiar situations, Pattibharamaiah happens to join under Phani Bhushana Rao for work. His wife dies and he has two daughters Savitri (Bhanumathi) and Seetha (Padmini). Savitri remains unmarried for certain reasons and teaches music lessons for living. She helps her father in her best capacity and makes her sister study. Phani Bhushana Rao’s son Raghu (Krishna) and Seetha fall in love. Even Phani Bhushana Rao gradually realizes his bad behavior towards Pattabhiramaiah and starts behaving decently with the former. However, his wife Leela (Suryakantham) and manager (Dhulipalla) despise this. Meanwhile Pattabhiramaiah dies of heart failure and Phani Bhushana Rao helps his family by giving Savitri the responsibility of looking after his company. After joining there as incharge, the rest of the story is about how Savitri finds out the loopholes in the business, and bringing forth the true colors of Phani Bhushana Rao. The film ends on a happy note with the wedding of Raghu and Seetha.
Performances:
Bhanumathi is terrific in the lead role of Savitri who never stops questioning wrong doings and expresses her intelligence and wit. She looks adequate as the elder sister of the family and performs brilliantly in key scenes. Nagaiah is decent as the gullible Pattabhiramaiah. Nagabhushanam delivers a good performance as Phani Bhushana Rao with negative shades. Padmini is good as the younger sister. Krishna has little to perform but looks good. Suryakantham and Dhulipalla are fine in their respective roles.
Technical Aspects:
Bhanumathi herself was instrumental in writing the storyline for the film and she does it with ease. The drama and sentiment factor was well blended with entertainment. Her music compositions along with Satyam were highly appreciated. ‘Neevera Naa Madhilo Deva’, ‘Sarigamapa Paata Paadali’, ‘Challaga Haayiga’, ‘Ammailu Abbailu’, ‘Navvave Naa Cheli’ became super hits.Direction by Bhanumathi is competently good.
