Meena is one of the few actresses who gave a new meaning to earthliness and grace for actresses in Telugu Cinema. With her great acting skills and ability to excel in any character, Meena has made a unique mark in Telugu Cinema ever since she appeared on screen as a child actress during the 80s.  Though her first appearance in Telugu Cinema was Jandhyala’s Rendu Rendlu Aaru, it was K.Vishwanath’s Sirivennela which made audience recognize her amazing acting skills. Meena played the role of a blind girl who is passionate about seeing the World through the vision of Music. Her performance in the film became most noted and she continued to act in many Telugu films as a child artist.

The next breakthrough Meena had was with Kranthi Kumar’s Seetharamayya Gari Manavaralu- where she played an NRI who comes to her native place in India to visit her grandparents. The film portrays wonderful family values and the relationship between grandfather and his grand-daughter.  Meena displayed confidence and maturity even at a young age while acting opposite ANR- one of the greatest actors Telugu Cinema ever witnessed. The film fetched her Nandi award for the best actress as well.

Right from then, Meena the talented actress never looked back. She played so many roles with subjects relating to Family values, Comedy, Commercial Value and what not! There was an era when many young girls looked up to her as a role model- not only in just looks but in entire personality she projected in her roles.  Allari Pilla, Chanti, SundarakandaMutamestri, Ashwamedham, Allari Alludu – all these films were highly successful  and Meena played a unique character in each of them.  By mid 90s- Meena starred opposite every noted Telugu Hero of that age such as Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Suresh, Harish and so on.

While the Telugu Film marathon was going on, Meena was acting in Tamil Cinema as well opposite heroes like Kamal Hassan, Rajinikanth and so on. Her performance in Muthu and Bhamane Satyabhamane (Avvai Shanmugi-Tamil) are best remembered by Telugu Audience.

Meena never restricted her acting sphere to a limit because she acted even in devotional films which earned her good name such as Sri Manjunadha, Vengamamba and the recent Jagadguru Aadi shankara as well. Expressive face, excellent histrionics, and great looks are some of the best features of Meena.
