If there is one actress in Telugu Cinema who can adorn glamorous as well as performance oriented roles with equal ease, she is none other than Anushka. Her career has been like a dream with versatile films and brilliant roles such as Arundhati, Vedam, Baahubali and her recent release Rudramadevi. Now she is coming in a totally transformed avatar in Size Zero directed by Prakash Kovelamudi. It is releasing this Friday and here is an iQlik exclusive chitchat with the sweet actress:

Hello Anushka..how are you doing?
Hi.. I am doing great!

About your latest film Size Zero..
The film is about a stout woman and her struggles to get married. I felt it was a great subject where every young girl can connect to.

Did you have any personal experiences relating to the concept of Size Zero?
Yes of course. Whenever I go for shopping the mannequins are draped in size zero costumes which I always used to wonder why! When I was working as a Yoga instructor also, many especially people who are about to get married asked me about this size zero concept. We wanted to narrate their in a rather tugging and entertaining manner.

What made you take a risk to become fat for this role?
In general, heroines never get into such risk. But I felt that if I couldn’t gain weight, it would look artificial. I worked hard for the role and could gain 17kgs in the stipulated time but now working harder to lose weight for other roles! I already lost 10 kg now and should lose more.

Is there any specific diet regime you follow?
Hmmm...my name is Sweety but I don’t have sweets. I prefer having chicken and prawns but avoid fish. That’s it!

What is your opinion on Size Zero craze in India now?
I don’t think there is a relation between character and the physical looks at all. As long as you have healthy mind and body, size doesn’t matter!

You did ample number of women oriented roles till now. What did you learn from them?
I only understood that being a hero or somebody who would carry the film on shoulders is a difficult task. This is the common thing I understood while doing Arundhati, Rudramadevi and now Size Zero. I even felt that hero worship is justified for the hard work they put up.

Who is your favourite heroine in the current league of actresses?
I really liked Rakul Preet Singh as an actress and the way she is balancing her career. She got great name in such short notice and it is not an easy thing to achieve.

Did you consider acting in Bollywood now that you are established in South?
I never believed that fame will come only by acting in Hindi films. Maybe that is the reason why I never considered it seriously.

How did you handle the pressure which arrives in doing lady oriented scripts?
I never felt burden because I strictly follow my director and the script. They know perfectly well about how to handle such strong subjects.

Which sort of films would you want to do from now?
Actually, I thought of doing commercial films to get a break from heavy films like Baahubali and Rudramadevi, but I am getting tempted to accept peculiar and versatile subjects now. I am really glad that filmmakers are considering me for such roles.

Did you get the expected result with Rudramadevi?
Rudramadevi is a film which shouldn’t be measured by regular parameters. We wanted to tell a great story of the warrior queen and we sincerely followed it. Glad to see the film faring well at the box-office too!

What about your marriage plans?
I personally wanted to settle early in life but looks like my destiny has different plans. Marriage will happen only when the right time comes!

How do you handle rumors and gossip stories which revolve around you?
Those are such things which cannot be in our control. It is a part and parcel of showbiz life and now I know how to live with it!

Upcoming projects?
I am currently working on Baahubali: The Conclusion and Singham-3 that’s it.

Okay..thanks and wish you the best for Size Zero!
Thanks a lot.
