Love vs Online Friendship

Avg User Rating: 3/5

Plot:
Abhi (Naga Shaurya) & Prarthana (Palak Lalwani) become friends on Facebook with fake identities but get attracted in reality not knowing their real identities. Succumbing to their lust, Abhi & Prarthana make love to each other. This eventually creates a rift between them and ruins their relationship with their respective parents as well. But Abhi & Prarthana continue to be friends online. So how did Love succeed in its conflict with Friendship forms the rest of the plot.

Performances:

Naga Shaurya: This chocolate boy lives up to his image in terms of looks and acting as well.

Palak Lalwani: This newbie looks pretty and promising. However she didn’t look like a newcomer and indeed hinted that she is here to stay.

The rest of the cast including Mohan, Rao Ramesh, Pragathi, Tejaswi Madivada tried their best to do justice to their roles. While Shalaka Shankar was the lone comedy relief in the film, comedians like Madhu were underutilized.

Analysis:
Ramesh Varma who was successful in grabbing the attention of the world with just posters tries to make a decent attempt talking about some contemporary issues especially in the youth community.

The director who has made some commercial flicks so far attempts a full-fledged feel good love story for the first time and had his chips. The film tries to deal with the confusions of today’s youth which is in fact the need of the hour. It has some decent performances and brilliant cinematography that makes it a visual treat and maestro Ilaiyaraja’s touch is a bonus but only if the film had a more compelling story and narration, the film would have made the cut.

Merits:
Performances of Naga Shaurya, Palak, Rao Ramesh, Mohan & others
Onscreen chemistry of Naga Shaurya & Palak Lalwani
Shakalaka Shankar provides the much needed comic relief
Top Notch Cinematography by Sam K Naidu
Editing by SR Sekhar
Music & backgroundscore by Maestro Ilaiyaraja

De-merits:
A puny writing.
Lack of regular commercial entertainment might disappoint the masses.

Music:
Maestro Ilaiyaraja gave a good album with a versatile mix of feel good songs. The background score also tries its best to pour life into the scene.

Others:
The splendid work of Art direction department deserves a special mention.

Verdict:
Abbayitho Ammayi is a decent love story that attempts to talk about the new gen Love, Lust & importantly quintessential values like Friendship, Life & Goals that today’s youth is missing in the name of Love.
