From the time, the censor board has introduced the concept of ‘U/A’ almost six out of ten movies get this certificate. But there are also times when some raise doubts as to what is the parameter for giving that certificate. This is the doubt which popped up after looking at the Sankranthi releases.
Many are asking why ‘U/A’ was given to the movies Soggade Chinni Nayana, Nannaku Prematho, Dictator. But here is the answer. The censor board can give a clean U but any small act of violence results in U/A. For that matter, even if there is a slapping scene, it results in a U/A.
On the other hand, any unusual behaviour of the characters who are not actually mad in the film also gives the same certificate. Some members from the censor board say a U/A doesn’t really cause damage to the film’s prospects but it just adds to the viewer discretion.
